=Pure Otaku-

The world of Pure Otaku brings the culture of anime fans to the audience, showing them a world of status symbols based on knowledge, conspicuous consumption, and devotion to the culture in the arts of drawing and cosplay.  The show identifies the main character as the overzealous anime fanboy, Kai Hoshino. However, being from the East Coast of the mainland, he belongs to a different clique from other anime fans.  The new friendships that he will make in his new Hawaii home will allow him to learn the complete concept of the Otaku.    He has grown up within the Japanese culture in Florida and believes that everything in the world can be linked to anime.  Now that he’s in Hawaii, he has come closer to the culture but he would soon realize that there is a reality in this anime infested world.

Characters

Kai Hoshino (Christian Hakubi in OVS)

*played by Sephi Hakubi (Christian Lalinde)

The protagonist of Pure Otaku and the self-proclaimed otaku master (Da Otaku);  however, his rank in fandom does not classify him as an elitist as he is good natured and tries to bring others into the otaku.  Originally raised in South Florida, now moved to Oahu to work as an anime producer.  Although Christian is a fanboy, he does not portray most of the dorky stereotypes that much as he appears to be in the in-crowd in certain concepts. Christian does not believe in stereotypical lines and believes anyone can be a fan of anything they want.  On the other hand, Christian has a complex where he things that all things reality is one big anime.  He will soon learn in the series that there is more reality to his life then what is described in anime.

Lord Nix

*played by Eric Baranda

Nix is the main antagonist of Pure Otaku and leader of the Thirteen Thirty-seven shell. He has heard about Christian Hakubi and believes that he should not move forward in his quest to understand the otaku in order for Nix to break into the anime industry, claiming the sushipop culture under his influence.  Nix is the ultimate elitist and would send agents from the shell to give Christian and his friends a hard time, ultimately breaking fans' spirits.

Jennifer Saiko

*played by Monchalee "Chi" Steiger

The dark mysterious kawaii fangirl.  Jennifer Saiko is the girl of Christian's dreams...literally.  Christian has dreamt of this stranger, not knowing who she is, when he first got to Hawaii.  Christian would not think much of it until he would see her again in real life. Jen-chan tends to share the same interests as "Da Otaku" would have and definitely admires the cosplaying trade.  Jen-chan never has a problem opening her heart to everyone but she would tend to keep to herself when it comes to who she is.

Alphonse "Alfee" Roberts

*played by Vernon Piper

The ladies man of Pure Otaku and Christian’s roommate.  Christian asks about any anime scenes that Honolulu would have and Al would inform him of places that are heavy in alternative culture, yet sometimes the scenes he has in mind would be too loud his taste, as Christian may need to adapt.  Al tends to party as his life depended on it and would say he would only go out to drink, have sex, or watch a movie.  Al would portray himself as the character that would balance Christian’s idea of reality and anime and allow him to enjoy life for more than what it is.  On the other hand,  Christian would eventually allow Al to indulge in anime that he would base his reality on it just as Christian does.

Anthony Biello

Anthony is a fan of J-pop and often talks about the hottest music available in Japan and Korea.  He is an avid PC gamer and watches anime that have a great soundtrack.  Anthony was the one who first welcomed Christian when he arrived to Honolulu and then had him tour around the metropolis, displaying the spectacular urban aloha.  Anthony is very open-minded and high spirited about many general concepts and also seeks in understanding the otaku culture as he would with his ninjitsu doctrine.  Christian would latter confide in Anthony about music from the far east and increase his knowledge in otaku.

Episodes

Christian struggles to get up in the morning from a karaoke nightmare, ending up singing terribly in front of people in his dream.  He makes a tape for his friends and family back home, describing his otaku behavior and his impression of Hawaii.  Later, he would be picked up by Anthony, a gamer met across online forums.  Anthony shows Christian the sights of Honolulu and the Ala Moana Mall, claiming that the Asian shops and restaurants are his fortress of solitude.  As he leaves one of the stores, he becomes stunned as he sees the kawaii girl from his nightmare.  Who is this mysterious girl from his dream, and what is in store for "Da Otaku" as his adventure begins?

2. Kawaii Kon (2)

Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mE7YG618TA

Christian gets settled in after taking tours around the Oahu island, searching for the scene.  He decides to make another video blog describing his experiences in a breakout of the anime scene "Kawaii-Kon".  Christian meets Anthony again at the Kon as he pre-emptily "trains" him in what it is to be an otaku by showing the elements of a convention.  They go to meet a wide selection of cosplayers, artists, and of course celebrities.  Honolulu is the spot as Kawaii-Kon has shown it with sushipop culture breaking the scene.
